Three married couples are continuing to meet monthly to encourage each other in their own marriage and parenting relationships. There are many married couples all around them who have troubled relationships. Many spouses carry bitterness and do not have the opportunity or skills to begin sharing their hurt to find reconciliation. The default is to use cultural rituals in front of the extended family, which is expensive, shameful and sometimes involves witchcraft. God’s plan for marital oneness and resolving conflicts seems to be unknown, and some couples have lost hope. God has provided marriage as a wonderful picture of His own love for us and a live demonstration of what forgiveness and restoration is all about. This group is seeking God’s leadership in involving others in these marriage encouragement opportunities. Should it be informal or formal? How many couples are manageable? They could easily become overwhelmed and neglect their own marriages and families, so they need wisdom. In December, three married couples held a one-day seminar for youth entitled, “Experience God’s Best Plan for Your Future Marriage.” The trainers shared biblical guidance and examples, as well as personal testimonies, about the important decisions related to courtship and marriage. The youth were grateful and desired to have more of this kind of guidance. After the training day, some of the youth sought out more advice, prayer and discussion, which led to godly decisions in the weeks that followed. God was able to rescue some youth from making life-changing mistakes. God made all of the openness and sharing possible in a culture where most people do not talk about these issues. * Please pray for the Lugbara youth that they will remain chaste until marriage and that adults will continue to provide wise counsel. * Intercede for direction for the marriage and parenting group as they seek to be used by God in bringing His healing and reconciliation. * Recommit your household to serving the Lord faithfully. |
