“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, joining you in prayer for students.

Out of the 61 national students who attended training on a university campus last month, five have committed to further in-depth training, with the desire to reach out to a Last Frontier people group in the future.

Pray for Becky*, a student in Thailand who just recently finished her final year of university study. She has been involved in student ministry through the Isaan Student Team for several years and has just recently started attending the local Baptist church. In recent months, she has shown a growing interest in the Gospel. She has turned to God’s Word as she has experienced various issues and concerns in her life, and God has faithfully answered her in these times.

Cape Town, South Africa is a city of more than 5 million people who live in a variety of structures, from upper-income homes to middle-income apartments to shacks made of scrap wood and wire. It is a city of diversity and with many needs, such as poverty relief, refugee assistance, children’s services, elder care, homes, education, clothes, food, medicine, salvation and hope. Every April, the Cape Town Baptist Seminary holds a “missions month” in which each student must serve in the community as a missionary to share God’s love and the Gospel of salvation. This April has been no different. Groups of students are evangelizing door-to-door, holding HIV/AIDS babies, leading special youth-week initiatives, joining chaplains at hospitals, working with pastors at churches, and working in orphanages.

* Please pray for preparation and safety for each of the 60 students in Cape Town as they serve, and ask the Lord to open hearts of the people in the community to be receptive to His Word.

* Pray for Becky to continue to seek God, and pray that God will continue to reveal Himself to her wherever she goes.

* Intercede for the five preparing through training that God will place a call on their hearts for specific people groups.
