| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST December 18, 2013 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia (southeastern Asia). THAI-MALAY OF THAILAND (ty-mah-LAY) - “This past month, a young man named Jude* started coming to our fellowship,” writes the Thai-Malay Team. “He was raised in a Muslim family here in this province. His soccer team had one believer on it who invited the entire team to eat lunch at a local church. There he began to hear the Gospel and, after several months, accepted Christ. Now, after attending college, he is back in his province again and living with his family, but he now has a heart to share with his friends. Pray for this young man, asking that the Lord will use him and protect him as he shares the Good News with the people he meets. Pray also that the Lord will raise up others like him to begin the work of leading this people group to faith.” (*pseudonym) WEST AFRICANS IN PARIS, FRANCE - “‘Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit’ (Romans 15:13). Holidays, especially those like Christmas where we normally spend time with our loved ones, are especially difficult times for workers on the field. Feelings of loneliness and solitude do not discriminate based upon where one is serving. We are without and desperately miss our friends and family in the United States, whether we are in the bush in Africa or in an urban center in Europe. These times are especially difficult for those who are single and have no family or friends on the field with whom to share holidays or special times. Please pray for workers throughout the world to feel the comfort and love of our Father during this month, and especially during the holidays. Pray that they will feel His presence with them always. Ask that single workers will find local believers among them with whom they can share the holiday so they will not be alone. Pray that workers--and all follows of Jesus--will seek their peace, joy and happiness not from the things of this world, but from the Spirit. Romans 14:17 says, ‘. . . for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.’” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
