“The angel answered and said to him, “. . . I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.” (Luke 1:19, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for Scripture to impact lives.

Imagine your life as a believer in Christ without having God’s Word available to you. Beng believers of Cote d’Ivoire have a few books and various other portions of Scripture, but much remains to be done before they have a complete Old and New Testament.

The New Testament has been finished in the Uighur language, but the Old Testament is still in process. The main translator for the Good Book is also one of the strongest local leaders in the Uighur community.

The Book of Ruth has now been translated into the language of an unreached East Asian people group that has previously had no access to Scripture in their language. The translation team is now translating the Book of Luke and then will continue with the rest of the New Testament.

A group of Tajik believers just finished a month of a concerted evangelistic emphasis, in hopes of sharing a whole Truth presentation with 100 people. There have also been several initiatives recently that have resulted in the broad sowing of God’s Word into the lives of Tunisians: literature and media distribution, new websites/social media coming online, and increased outreach by believers. Finally, many people in two major cities in the United Kingdom will receive Bibles, tracts and DVDs between now and the end of the year. Many follow Islam but are open to the Good News.

* Please pray that the spiritual eyes of the Tajik, Tunisian, and varied people groups of the United Kingdom will be opened to see the beauty of King Jesus.

* Ask God to strengthen translators as they prepare Scripture for this East Asian people group, the Uighur people and the Beng.

* There may be some on your Christmas list who live in a resource-rich country but may not have their own copy of the Bible--be their source of Good News.
