“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6:37, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, lifting up those who follow the Quran.

At a very early age, a Shawiya Berber child may be introduced to the Quran and its practices, and they will be encouraged to participate in the prayers. One little boy was overheard as he played with a Ken® and a Snow White doll. He enthusiastically used Snow White to clean Ken’s hands, face, mouth, ears and feet. Muslims perform a washing ritual, because their prayers cannot be accepted without it; they believe that it also cleanses sins.

Workers in Central Asia share, “Murat is an old friend of mine from Istanbul. It was in response to a challenge from him years ago that I read through the Quran. After dinner one night, I pulled out my smartphone and asked him to watch ‘The Prophet’s Story’ (a ‘Creation to Christ’ video). He attentively watched it all. Murat reads the book about Islamic prayer, keeps the fast, and visits the mosque frequently. I expected some objections from him after the video. Instead, he looked at me very seriously and stated, ‘We believe all this.’ He immediately asked, ‘Why don’t you believe in Muhammad?’ I didn’t know how to respond. My first desire was to say, ‘No, you don’t believe all that!’ After we talked more about Jesus’ perfect nature, His embrace of the penalty of my sin, and the affirmation of God in Jesus’ resurrection, Murat again said, ‘We believe all that. Now, why don’t you believe in Muhammad?’ I left that night wondering, ‘What is God doing in Murat’s life?’ Is this a step on his road to faith, or just a warning that I am not communicating clearly?” (*pseudonyms)

* Please pray diligently for Murat’s salvation.

* Pray for households of faith to be formed among the Shawiya Berber so that their children will grow up knowing the Word of God.

* Give thanks to our loving Father who receives us joyfully when we turn to Him.
