“. . . The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16, HCSB)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray for Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand (islands in southwestern Pacific).

LUGBARA OF UGANDA (loog-BAR-ah) - Pray for the February 23-25 meeting of Baptist leaders in West Nile. This will be the third time they have met for fellowship, prayer, networking, and “casting a vision” for strengthening churches to reach the unreached in the area. The population of the West Nile region of Uganda is more than 5 million, and there are only 80 Baptist churches. This group of leaders has been looking at their own weaknesses and mistakes of the past to chart a new course for the future. They live long distances from each other, and transportation is expensive, dangerous, tiring, and time consuming. Pray for the safety and spiritual sensitivity of this group as they meet to make plans for the future. There are so many needs, such as planting churches among the Lugbara (population: 2.1 million), who have only three Baptist churches sharing the gospel among them. There are also only 20 evangelical churches in this huge area. There is a need for new, visionary leadership; developing stronger marriages for pastors and their wives; local Bible school training; and cooperation for doing evangelism and church planting. Pray that God’s Spirit will bring unity and direction to this group.

TAJIKS OF TAJIKISTAN (TAH-jeeks) - “Many people are hearing gospel truth and receiving materials that will fully explain their need for a Savior. Very few are coming to faith. Please ask the Holy Spirit to move in mighty ways, and pray that many will come into the kingdom. We need Him to provide a breakthrough!”
