“He will yet deliver us, you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons.” (2 Corinthians 1:10b-11a, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, celebrating new births and baptisms with you.

Following a recent evangelism trip, many Hokkien people in Southeast Asia made decisions for Christ, and a number of those were baptized. For the very first time one of the participating churches had the privilege of removing idols from a home, and three members of that family were also baptized. Exciting times.

In the Vancouver Metro Area in British Columbia, Canada, people from the Hindu and Sikh faiths are becoming disciples of Jesus. For some, being baptized is a huge step of identifying with “the Jesus community.” Praise God for Neten* and Baley*, who took this step and are growing in the joy of the Lord. These two men meet with other South Asian believers, and they are learning to use their Bibles to disciple others.

After several months of growing in faith, a new believer in the Last Frontier recently made the decision to be baptized. This is a significant step in her culture and helps to solidify her faith. She is already involved in a local church where she can continue to grow. However, her husband is not yet open to the Good News.

A small group of college students in Northern Hope, China are new believers. But they have they decided against baptism due to familial pressure. Now several of them are struggling with their faith.

* Please pray that these students in China and the Last Frontier will be able to have confidence in their belief and take the step of baptism soon, and pray that the other students in the group will follow their example of believing in Him.

* Intercede for this new believer in the Last Frontier and for Neten and Baley in Canada that they will live in victory and express their faith with obedience and courage.

* Ask God to continue working among the Hokkien of Southeast Asia.
