“So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.” (Romans 10:17, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for unengaged people groups of Sub-Saharan Africa.

If we don’t tell them the truth, someone will come in with lies. If we don’t bring them to the narrow road of salvation, others will take them down the wide road of ancestor worship and the world. The Seba (pronounced SEH-bah) people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are just such a people. Many claim to be Christian because they are not Muslim; but very few understand about God’s Son, Jesus. Living in the far southeastern corner of the country, they are isolated in a remote area, making them difficult to access. With conflicts over land and local political power, violence riddles this area. The Seba people need to experience God’s grace and mercy in their lives in order to live at peace with one another. Currently there is no part of the Bible translated into their heart language, no “JESUS” film, no gospel witness. “. . . and how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:14).

More than 400,000 members of the Sihanaka people group live in the wetlands that surround the largest lake in Madagascar. The land of the Sihanaka is perfect for rice farming, and the majority of this country’s staple food comes out of this area. Unfortunately, this land is far from perfect for gospel seed sowing and church planting. The Sihanaka are unreached because they are hard to reach. It is impossible to drive to most of the places they live. However, nothing is too difficult for our God.

* Please pray for the Lord to call missionaries to this difficult-to-reach people who so desperately need Jesus.

* Ask God to provide gospel resources for the 200,000 Seba of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

* Intercede for those who plan the strategies for reaching the unengaged peoples of Africa that they will be sensitive to the Lord’s leading.
