More than 180 prisoners plus 70 guards and their families live on a prison compound that has no clean water source. All water is fetched daily from an open, contaminated source more than two miles away--bucket by bucket, every day. Workers among the Ngindo of Tanzania write: “We are currently in phase 1 of installing gutters on the long, tin roofs to capture rain water.” They are seeking continued favor with the officials overseeing this project so that the believers gain freedom to teach the message of salvation as they work. In the city of Lampang, Thailand, the Thai Christian Businessmen Association partnered with several churches and with an evangelistic young adult’s group to hold a special program for a local prison. The group anticipated and brought resources for 200 men. However, more than 200 men voluntarily participated in the Christian event. Moreover, the believers in the audience allowed the nonbelievers to have the resources. After the message, 22 men said that they believed. The Christian workers were amazed by the unity with which they had worked and by the responsiveness of the inmates. There is much work to be done as they follow up with those who expressed an interest in learning more about Jesus. * Please pray for this group in Thailand, asking that they will continue in unity so that the world will know that the Father has sent them with the Good News of Jesus. * Pray that the new believers will give themselves totally to the Lord and become laborers for the harvest, eager to share their faith and disciple others even while in prison. * Intercede for the prisoners and guards in Tanzania to recognize and receive the love and freedom of Christ demonstrated through the provision of clean water. |
