| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 12, 2013 “Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to You. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Sir Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei (southeastern Asia, bordering the South China Sea and Malaysia). GURAGE OF ETHIOPIA (goo-ra-gay) - The new believers who were harassed in the spring by their neighborhood farming association continue to pray and read the portion of the Word that they have. Give thanks to God that they have not turned back! However, they have not met together to receive new discipleship because of fear. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide them into truth and equip them to remain faithful in the midst of persecution. Pray that their families will stand with them and that many more Gurage will follow Jesus. Pray that they will understand that persecution for Jesus’ sake is to be expected, and ask that they will find joy in serving Jesus and walking blamelessly in their communities. MANDINKA OF WEST AFRICA (man-DINK-uh) - “The translation of the Bible into the Mandinka language had been in the process for more than 30 years,” writes a Mandinka Team member. “A group of believers celebrated by hosting a Bible dedication at their church! We arrived and were greeted by the sight of people from all over the world, talking excitedly. When the doors to the church opened, people rushed inside to find seats. It seemed that more continued to trickle in for the next hour until there was standing room only. The church had hung balloons from the windows and decorated the stage, obviously taking pride in hosting this event. Of course, with this many people and it being summer in Africa, the event was a little warm! The service lasted for four hours, as we heard many testimonies and thanksgivings for the completed Word of God in Mandinka. Tears came to my eyes when one of the speakers shouted joyfully that the Bible was truly Mandinka and that God had not forgotten the Mandinka. Having a Bible that had been painstakingly translated so that the true meaning of the text would be understood by the Mandinka reminded this Mandinka man that God wants all nations, tribes and tongues to hear His Word and believe! As the service came to the end, Bibles were brought out. People leapt from their seats and ran forward to purchase their copies! Pray that the release of the completed Bible in Mandinka will draw many to a saving faith.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
