Recently, some workers in Turkey gathered together at the top of a mountain for a week of worship and encouragement. They were reminded of the power, the beauty, and the simple truths of the Good News. They were challenged to persist in desperate, bold and faith-filled prayers. They were encouraged to look around to see who they can love each day and look for ways to express that love. They were asked to examine their hearts with the intent of identifying and tearing down idols they had set up in place of the Creator. What a blessing to have an intimate relationship with the Savior! As they return home and continue in the ministries the Father has entrusted to them, these workers ask for prayer that they will be faithful to live out what they heard and experienced. This week, Tuesday and Wednesday, staff members will have a similar opportunity as these workers. We will enjoy our Annual Staff Retreat, trusting the Lord to remind us of His power and beauty. A team is traveling to Richmond to lead the retreat and many are actively organizing and preparing the rooms, the materials, the meals. We express thanks in advance for the opportunity for fellowship and growth. * Please pray that as workers in Turkey are satisfied in Jesus, love and a bold witness will overflow into their relationships with the Aegean Turks. * Intercede for workers living in complicated communities—facing opposition from the culture or the seeming lack of spiritual interest—that they will be persistent in sharing the Good News of Jesus and in finding effective bridges to the Gospel. * Pray for staff members of the International Mission Board as we step away from our desks to experience the Lord’s encouragement and challenge. *** Our offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, September 24-25. The next PrayerLine will be distributed Friday, September 27. Thank you for your understanding *** |
