| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 17, 2013 “Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2). Please pray today for President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi (central Africa, east of Democratic Republic of the Congo). NORTHERN AFRICAN AND MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLES - “Arrogant foes are attacking (Northern African and Middle Eastern immigrants worldwide), O God; ruthless people are trying to (harm them)--they have no regard for you. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (Psalm 86:14-15, NIV). Four years have passed since a couple left their homeland for a new opportunity in a Western country. They worked hard at learning the language and culture, and eventually established a small business that helps to support their family. N recounts the many tears she cried upon arrival in that country, not knowing the language and struggling for over a year to make even one friend. This eventually came about with another refugee from another country. Although they have legal rights to remain in the country and are faithful to pay their taxes, they are still not accepted by the local people. Why? It’s simply this: because they were not born in the country. This rejection greatly grieves their hearts, especially since their 2-year-old son is growing up in an environment that is unwelcoming to N’s people. They have concern for the future and fear of a backlash against their child. Pray for this couple and the local people to experience the love of Jesus through believers who live in that country. Ask for all hearts to melt beneath the Spirit’s fire. WESTERN HIGHLANDERS OF EAST ASIA - Because there is yet to be a stable, reproducing church in Western Highlands, Christians there do not have a safe place to turn within their own culture when they face difficulties and tragedy. Due to strict and intense monitoring from the authorities, many of the believers don’t even know each other and, therefore, are not meeting together. At a training session in 2012, some believers met for the first time. One Highlander woman commented that she had believed for 15 years and didn’t know that there were any other Highlander believers. When sickness, hospitalization, the death of a loved one, or personal struggles occur, there is little to no Highlander-to-Highlander encouragement. Pray that a healthy body of Western Highlander brothers and sisters will soon become firmly established on the cornerstone of Jesus, and that the Holy Spirit will lead these Highlander believers to one another so as to bring glory to the Father in the Western Highlands.
