“What man among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:9-11)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski of Bulgaria (southeastern Europe).

EUROPEAN PEOPLES - “As the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct: for it is written, ‘Be holy, because I am holy’” (1 Pet. 1:15-16, HCSB). Holiness . . . this is what God desires, but as society becomes more and more accepting of values contrary to biblical principles, Christians and churches are put under pressure to be more “tolerant” and to make compromises. Join with personnel serving in the Germanic Cluster in interceding that believers and churches in Germany and Austria will practice holiness. Pray that sin will be identified as sin and that bodies of believers will exercise proper forms of church discipline, when necessary. Pray that Christians will read the Word daily and adhere to God’s standards, rather than following cultural norms.

HONG KONG AND MACAU, CHINA (ma-COW) - As the team was setting up for a morning distribution, a courteous, educated young Chinese man saw signs indicating that the Bible was being offered as a gift. He walked up to the group and asked a team member if she could explain this book to him. As the boxes were opened and a Bible was given to him, he and his two friends expressed extreme gratitude to be receiving this precious gift. On another day, a different team had just finished a fruitful morning of giving out Bibles to Chinese visitors before heavy rains came. As the team was leaving and being drenched by the rain, one of the team members said, “We just sowed the seed; now God is providing the water to help it grow!” The Southern Cross Project in Macau has distributed thousands of copies of God’s Word to Chinese tourists who visit the city. September through November will see many of these tourists visit Macau, and many volunteers will come to offer Bibles as gifts to these visitors. Pray that many will receive these gifts and take them back home, and that lives will be transformed. Pray for the volunteers who will come to help, asking that they will display God’s love to the visitors and bless many!
