“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1b-2, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray not only for open doors but also open hearts.

“Upon entering the assembly hall in the Muslim private school, we were quickly ushered to the front row and seated in VIP chairs reserved for so-called ‘dignitaries.’ Surrounded by women in brightly colored, veiled gowns and influential men wearing traditional Muslim caps, we had gathered to watch a graduation ceremony and a drama performed by young students. The families in this tight-knit community are all part of an unreached South Asian people group who immigrated to East Africa hundreds of years ago for trade purposes. They are 100 percent Muslim. The ceremony and drama presentation were a success, but the focus that day was not on the children, but on their ‘dignitary’ guests. The teachers, school administrators, and board of directors publicly thanked us over and over again for bringing volunteer teachers to their school who were willing to serve and love the students and staff members. God has definitely granted us favor in this community, but we pray that these success-driven people would come to understand that it’s because of Jesus that we serve, and that it’s only because of His love flowing through us that we are able to love.”

In the past few months, evangelism stories have also been shared in two Mahafaly villages of Madagascar for the first time.

* Please pray for new believers who have taken what was said as Truth and are allowing the Lord to change their lives.

* Intercede for the many Coastal Swahili teachers in East Africa who have heard the Truth for the first time from their new friends.

* Ask God to help missionaries run their race with endurance and grace.
