| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST September 23, 2013 A NOTE FROM THE PRAYER OFFICE: On Tuesday, September 24, and Wednesday, September 25, IMB staff will be attending our Annual Staff Retreat, so “Today’s Prayer will not be available on those days. Thank you. “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all peoples.” (1 Chronicles 16:24) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2: 1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Jose Maria Pereira Neves of Cape Verde (North Atlantic Ocean, west of Senegal, Africa). EASTERN THARU OF NEPAL (tah-ROO) - Please pray for a Tharu church body that is seeking a couple of qualified believers from their own body to go and live in a remote Tharu village. Their purpose is to share the Truth, gather believers into a local church, and teach those new believers to share with and disciple others. This church’s plan is to support the “seed spreaders” by giving a portion of their own crops for them to eat, so that the “seed spreaders” won’t have to buy rice, lentils or whatever is in season at the time. That way, the church will exercise giving while freeing up the “seed spreaders” to sow spiritual seed. The remoteness of this village will make living there much more difficult than where they now live. Please pray that those chosen will the ones who have been first chosen and equipped by God, and ask that they’ll be willing to live for God’s purpose in harder conditions. NKOYA OF WESTERN ZAMBIA (n-COY-yah) - While witch doctors, praying to ancestors, and traditional village ceremonies sound like talk reserved for documentaries or “National Geographic,” they are alive and well in Maziba-Kaoma, Zambia. In this small, rural area, there are 14 witch doctors and traditional African doctors. The chief witch doctor is brother to the first Baptist believer in this area. K was the first one to receive Christ in this remote place. However, he has now been joined by many others. The local IMB missionary was hoping to plant a new Baptist church in Maziba. Initially, after K’s surrender to Christ, other villagers were scared away from becoming Christians. Now, however, the Lord has truly shown Himself strong and has started what appears to be a revival in this area. During a recent trip, when the missionary was camping in the area, many received Christ. While this area is filled with all the major tribes of the Western Province of Zambia, the “nduna” (traditional “chief” of the area) is Nkoya. He has given the missionaries permission to start meeting and teaching at the local community school. It was no coincidence that the first time the missionaries visited his home, two of his family members received Christ. Additionally, his wife was sick with serious body ailments and little sleep. When the missionaries returned, they discovered the wife fully recovered and giving praise to God for her healing. The time is right for a Baptist church in this area. Pray that God will truly bring the increase.
