| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST April 11, 2014 “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) WORLD LEADERS - Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Horacio Cartes Jara of Paraguay (central South America, between Argentina and Brazil). ENGAGING CHURCHES - SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA - The president of the Togo Baptist Convention wrote to one of our missionaries in January, saying: “As of today there are many indigenous Baptist churches here in Togo who desire to engage an unengaged people group. The names of some being: Hahotoe Baptist, Notse Baptist, Gnagna Grace, Komah Baptist, Essotomde Baptist, Dapaong Grace Baptist and Moretan Baptist. But they would like to engage in partnership with a sister church in America.” They want to step out, but not alone. Please ask God to call these churches and others in Togo to specific unengaged peoples. Pray that Baptist missionaries will be invited to train these churches in how to “go.” Ask God to raise up churches in the United States that likewise long to engage the unengaged while working hand-in-hand with African brothers. FRENCH-SPEAKING JEWS OF FRANCE AND ISRAEL - This year Passover, or “Pesach” as it is called in the Hebrew language, will be celebrated on April 14-22. To the Orthodox and Liberal Jews of France, this is the second-most celebrated holy day of the year. It’s a reminder of their “redemption” from Egypt (see Leviticus 23:5-8; Deuteronomy 16:1-4 and 26:5-11). Just as the Hebrews did while fleeing Egypt, modern-day observers eat unleavened bread for seven days. It’s very normal for followers of Jesus to receive invitations to Jewish people’s homes to share in a special meal and read from a book that is read only on this day. A particular plate is filled with bitter herbs and foods that represent the Hebrews’ experience of leaving Egypt. The children are included in special ways, so the day becomes a fond memory for them. For those who follow Jesus, this time is also very special. It is when Jesus allowed Himself to be sacrificed unto death to become our Messiah, or Savior. As those who believe in Jesus join the Jews, they are often invited to share the meaning of their own “most important holy day.” Please pray that Jesus-followers will receive invitations to this most personal of Jewish feasts, and be invited to share how they celebrate this same time of year and what this time represents to them. Ask the Holy Spirit to work in the minds and hearts of the listeners to believe the Truth about this most important day.
