“No one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing.” (James 3:8-10a, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray for students.

Monthly student fellowships began amongst Lugbara students of Uganda in January. The meetings run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with students spending all day together at a home, sharing in small groups, praying for each other, eating together, studying the Word, and hearing testimonies of God’s transformation. There is plenty of time for questions, and the source for answers is the Bible. While studying the Book of James, one student asked, “If we trust Jesus to save us by faith, what about the laws and keeping the Ten Commandments? Can someone be saved by keeping the laws?” This was a joyous opportunity to share again how we can only be right with God through Jesus. Three students recently shared that they have always been confused about what it means to have a relationship with Christ, but now they are counting the cost of making a decision to follow Jesus.

A group of nine college students roughing it in the plains of South Asia this semester are healthy and well. They are having the opportunity to train many believers, and they have been seeing people come into a relationship with Christ and be baptized. Their health, maturity, selflessness, and fruit these past two months have been a direct result of your prayers.

* Please pray for students in South Asia that they will remain focused throughout the semester and pray for the growth of church-planting movements in the regions where they are working.

* Intercede for the student fellowships in Lugbara as they discover the evidence of God’s love and learn to follow Him faithfully.

* Pray for international students living in your community that they will develop friendships with godly young people who will point them to Jesus.
