“. . . all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.” (Luke 4: 40, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, giving thanks for the testimony of believers.

The unbelieving wife of a Kabyle Berber Christian just accepted the Lord after many years of resistance and hostility toward Christians. As she was suffering with cancer and multiple health complications, doctors could not understand why she was still alive, but during her prolonged illness, her husband and many others lovingly witnessed to her, visited, and prayed for her salvation. After a pastor had prayed beside her hospital bed, the woman suddenly “awoke” from a coma, rose up and turned toward her daughter (a Christian), and said, “I believe in your God!” Shortly afterwards, she passed into eternity, leaving a testimony that strengthened faith and comforted her family members.

The child’s head is no bigger than an adult’s fist and is covered in thick, dark hair. On her face, dark eyes occasionally blink open in clear, olive-brown skin, with no sign of the customary charcoal markings that supposedly ward off evil spirits. Even fully clothed, she weighs less than any baby doll. This baby’s birth marks the beginning of something new among the Swahili-speaking Arabs of East Africa in Rock City. She is the first child born to an openly-professing parent, the first child who--from birth--will realize that each person has a choice to make about following Jesus.

* Pray that this tiny child, along with her brothers and sisters, will see how their mother is different because she follows Jesus and that they will choose to follow Him as well.

* Pray that this testimony of the Kabyle Berber wife will be used to draw others to the Lord and that God will continue to grant fruitful ministry to the husband, a very effective Bible teacher and preacher.

* Ask God to use you in reaching out to those who are sick and without hope.
