Amen.” (Romans 1:25, NKJV) Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, joining you in prayer for those who are entrenched in false belief systems. When volunteer teams come to work with the Central Thai Team, they take a trip to a locally important temple: Wat Saman Rattanaram. Wat Saman is a large temple area full of idols to the gods of many world religions. You will see money being given at each idol, secret prayers being whispered into the ears of giant rats, and homage being paid to dead monks. Families gather around a monk to receive a water blessing, and others meet at the foot of the Buddha statue to teach their child how to submit themselves and make merit to a man who can give them no hope for eternity. It was here that one volunteer’s life was changed forever when she finally was able to say that the Creator God is the “one true God”--there can be no other gods before Him and there is no God besides Him. Every year, an entire village of Kikim people gathers in the middle of a rice field to eat a communal meal. The field is called “the place of future graves.” In this place, the Kikim will offer sacrifices to appease spirits throughout the rest of the year. There are 100,000 Ganak in northeastern India with no known evangelical outreach although there are a few believers. They are a Hindu people, entrenched in the practice of astrology. The Ganak look to the stars, moon and planets to guide their actions. * Please pray that God will help the Ganak people to see the deceptiveness of astrology. * Lift up the Kikim of Southeast Asia to have an opportunity to hear the Truth of Jesus Christ. * Intercede for this U.S. volunteer Valerie* who solidified her faith decision in Thailand and for Thai friends who do not yet believe but rather trust in the amulets they sell at Wat Saman temple. *pseudonym |
