“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for women.

Living in the mountains of Lesotho, there is little opportunity for education, much less communication with someone who can understand the little sign language the 19-year-old deaf girl knows. Imagine a world of silence . . . the silence broken when three men hold you captive in a hut while they do the unspeakable. You cry, but no one hears. Two days later, a young believer comes to the hospital. Her passion is people--non-hearing people. She expresses sorrow for the pain and reminds this young woman that she is not alone. God does care. Hopelessness turns to hope; fear turns to confidence.

Several years ago, the members of Team Kharkov began the first study of Beth Moore’s book “Breaking Free” with a group of international students from New Hope International Church. Since then, Ukrainian believers have asked for opportunities to study the material in Russian. Leaders from the first two groups shared the material with women in their churches, and now five additional groups are meeting throughout the city.

For the past two months, a group of 16 South Asian women, most of whom are pastors’ wives, have been meeting for several days out of the month to learn from the Word and to learn how to sew. They are eager to learn a trade whereby they can help support their families. And they are hungry to be discipled and to minister alongside their husbands.

* Please pray that each of these women from the Far Eastern Plains of South Asia will develop an intimate walk with Jesus.

* Ask the Lord to continue to change hearts and lives as women gather together throughout the Kharkov region, opening their lives to the Lord and to others.

* Pray that the 19-year-old deaf girl will be able to hear the tenderness of God’s voice as He whispers salvation and healing, “My child, I love you.”
