| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST April 4, 2014 “Again, I assure you: If two of you on earth agree about any matter that you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19) WORLD LEADERS - Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said of Oman (Middle East, east of Saudi Arabia). CHURCH PLANTING IN ZIMBABWE - Gifted musicians from the Gospel Music Association will be in Zimbabwe on April 6-10 to see firsthand the plight of orphans and children who are at risk. They will use this experience to write music to try to help others understand the desperate situation in which many children in Zimbabwe find themselves. They will have an opportunity to interact with children in eight different locations and perform their music for the children. Pray that nothing will “hinder the children” (Matthew 19:14) from experiencing God’s love and coming to faith in Christ. The musicians will also host a worship and songwriting workshop for Baptist worship leaders in Zimbabwe. Pray for a spirit of renewal and unity among the participants that will go back with them and spread among their fellow church members. Pray that these church musicians will share with their churches what they learn about worshipping “in spirit and truth” (John 4:23) and the importance of offering “acceptable worship” (Hebrews 12:28) to our awesome God. PEOPLE OF RICHLANDS, EAST ASIA - This year, Easter falls on April 20. Many believers around the world will celebrate our risen Lord and the hope of eternal life we have because of Him. However, on April 5, many people in Richlands will observe Tomb Sweeping Day, a holiday with a much different meaning. On that day, living family members will honor their deceased ancestors by visiting their graves and cleaning weeds and debris from their tombs. They will burn incense to commemorate the deceased, while offering food and drink for their use in the afterlife and in order to retain their favor. This holiday is a way to remember loved ones and ancestors who have passed, but there is not much hope to be found. It’s a generally somber day in which most people mourn that they will never see their loved ones again. Please pray that believers will use the close proximity of the two holidays to share the Good News of eternal life with their lost friends, family members, colleagues, and other acquaintances. Ask the Holy Spirit to impress upon people the brevity of this life and the hopelessness of an eternity without Christ so that they will accept eternal life. Local believers routinely have Christmas projects and programs, but they do not usually have Easter programs. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide local groups to celebrate Easter by going out in their communities and telling others that “He is risen!” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
