“I call on You, God, because You will answer me; listen closely to me; hear what I say.” (Psalm 17:6, HCSB)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).  Please pray today for Administrator Richard J. Crispwell of Dhekelia (territory north of Athens, Greece).

FRENCH-SPEAKING JEWS OF FRANCE AND ISRAEL - Binyamin* was excited! This year he would be turning 12 years old in mid-October during Succoth, the Feast of Tabernacles. He was studying with the rabbi at the synagogue, preparing to read in Hebrew from the Torah scroll in front of everyone. As he arrived to practice, Binyamin heard the shofar blow. Every day of the month before his birthday, the ram’s horn trumpet was blown in the synagogue, reminding people to repent as the Days of Awe crept closer. Binyamin loved that his birthday fell during a significant time of the year. The rabbi asked Binyamin to open to Isaiah 54. “But wait!” said Binyamin. “Yesterday we read Isaiah 52. Should we not read chapter 53 next?” When the Rabbi explained that Isaiah 53 was skipped over as a daily reading, Binyamin’s curiosity rose. He could not wait to get home and read this mystery portion of Scripture. “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities . . . and with his stripes we are healed.” As the ram’s horn blew, calling people to repentance, Binyamin had a new understanding of One who suffered for Binyamin’s sake. Pray that many French-speaking Jews will seek to know Truth when they realize that the daily reading skipped Isaiah 53. Pray that they will search the Internet and find the Isaiah 53 Project website and come to know the Messiah, accepting the salvation described in that chapter. (*name changed)

MONGOLS OF OUTER MONGOLIA (MON-gols) - “Hospitality” is a good word to describe the Mongolian culture. When someone visits a home, they can expect to be greeted warmly and served hot milk tea and a meal, and they know that it will be reciprocated if their home is visited. Aquila* and his wife, Priscilla*, live in the capital city of Mongolia, and because they have worked for the last 15 years among the nomads, each month they receive many visitors from the countryside. After the physical needs of food and shelter are met, they then tend to their visitors’ spiritual needs. This month they will begin distributing gloves stitched with “Jesus loves you” that were made from old clothing by their home groups. Ask God to strengthen this couple so that they can continue to meet the physical and, most importantly, the spiritual needs of the guests whom God brings to their home. (*names changed)
