Meet the Lanes
Moving to South Sudan has been a major risk for Robert and Maridith Lane. The IMB missionaries call in daily to assure their teammates in Uganda that their family is still alive. Their journey began with two years’ preparation among a people group in Uganda, where gunshot echoes and cattle raids were common. But the Lanes see all they do as a risk worth taking if it means following God in obedience.

The Lanes are included in 2014 Week of Prayer, November 30-December 7. Find stories, photos and videos on all eight features for the week.

Platt to new missionaries: 'God saved you to send you'
The reality of more than 2 billion unreached people living in more than 6,000 people groups is "totally intolerable," IMB President David Platt told an overflow crowd during an appointment service for 63 new IMB missionaries at First Baptist Church Olive Branch Nov. 9. His challenged to all in attendance: “Will you place a ‘blank check’ before God?"

Platt unfolds progressive strategy

IMB President David Platt outlined his five-point progressive strategic plan while reporting to trustees in his first meeting as head of the mission agency. In addition, Platt brought three personnel recommendations to trustees, describing the moves as "high-level, 40,000-foot decisions" designed to "set the stage" for subsequent decisions in the days to come.

In post-communist Europe, the church remains faithful
Twenty-five years ago this month, a frenzied crowd danced on the wall separating East Berlin and West Berlin, celebrating a long-sought victory for freedom. Challenges continue since the collapse of communism, but the church remains strong and eager to fulfill the Great Commission.
