| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST November 19, 2014 “Then everyone will fear and will tell about God’s work, for they will understand what He has done.” (Psalm 64:9, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray today for Secretary of State Pietro Parolin of Holy See (Vatican City, within commune of Rome, Italy). SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN PEOPLES - “Day of Prayer and Fasting--November 19: Pray for West Africans affected by Ebola.” Every time you wash your hands or shake hands, think of those who are not allowed to be touched because of Ebola. Ask God to relieve their suffering and provide critical care for their needs. Pray for the epidemic to be stopped in its tracks. Pray for orphans who have lost parents, homes, belongings and extended family. Pray for Ebola survivors; many are now ostracized by their communities. Praise God that people are opening their hearts to the Gospel for the first time because of Christian workers who have stayed and are sharing in Guinea and beyond. Prayerfully consider not canceling mission trips to parts of Africa that are unaffected by the virus. Many countries are, in fact, thousands of miles from any cases of Ebola. Ask God how He wants to use you in the midst of this crisis to make His name known. EAST ASIA PARTNERSHIP STRATEGIES - Praise God for partnerships with the Northwest Baptist Convention and other entities that facilitate ongoing work and the beginning of new work! Pray that relationships spanning oceans will glorify God (Philippians 1:3-6). SRI LANKA - During Sri Lanka’s recent civil war, a young Sinhalese athlete was saved by God’s grace. He and his young wife relocated to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) territory for the sake of the Gospel. They inhabited the shell of a home with no windows and doors, only a roof and walls. They slept on the undulating floor as cobras and spiders fell from the rafters. Their purpose? To reach the poorest of the poor with the Gospel. Initially the Tamil Tigers, guerilla forces opposing the Sri Lankan government, were suspicious. They repeatedly raided and searched the young couple’s home. After a time, however, through sports evangelism and broken communication, the Gospel was shared. Even the soldiers began participating in the athletic events. More than 30 people came to faith in Jesus Christ, and a church was planted. Today the war has ended, but praise God, the church remains. Pray for the Tamil Christians to be bold in sharing their faith with their Hindu and Buddhist neighbors. Sometimes it involves great personal sacrifice.
