“Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.” (John 16:24b)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Francois Hollande of France (western Europe).

BEIJING, CHINA (BAY-jing) - The phrase “It’s so cold!” is often heard in November. The air is nippy, and people begin to add layers of clothing to fight off the chill. They look forward to a major event. As the air turns colder and winter moves in, the date of November 15 is highly anticipated. That’s the date the public heat comes on. For many, running an electric heater is too expensive and charcoal heat is too dangerous because of carbon-dioxide emissions and fire danger. So everyone is truly grateful when the day finally arrives, and even more thankful if the heat is turned on early. There’s another highly anticipated event that will occur this month: Thanksgiving! November brings an opportunity to share in the custom and meaning of the American Thanksgiving holiday. There are gatherings in homes to share meals and introduce friends to this holiday that most know little about. In some classrooms, Americans can share their culture as they tell about the history of Thanksgiving and how it’s a celebration of God’s provision. Pray that God will open many doors during this time and that people’s hearts will be turned to thoughts of giving thanks to the God of the universe. “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods” (Psalm 95:1-3, NIV).

NKOYA OF WESTERN ZAMBIA (n-COY-yah) - The Nkoya now not only have an international missionary living among them, and a New Testament in their own language (with a complete Bible of both Old and New Testaments on the way within the next few years), but this self-proclaimed group of “God’s Prodigal People” now also have a Baptist home missionary living and working in the Kaoma district--the district with the highest concentration of Nkoya in the entire world! This newly called and officially chosen home missionary is working under the national Baptist convention called The Baptist Fellowship of Zambia. Andrew* has truly been called of God! He has left an incredible job with the local district hospital and stepped out in faith, and is excited about planting churches and spreading the Good News of Jesus among the Nkoya and all the tribes of Kaoma and the Western Province of Zambia. Although Andrew is not an Nkoya man, he is fluent in Shinkoya (the Nkoya language). Andrew’s father was Kaonde and his mother Luchasi, both of which are friendly and well-received tribes among the Nkoya tribe. Andrew has already worked alongside the IMB missionary, Mike Smith, to plant a new Baptist church in an area called Maziba, where the headman of the area is Nkoya. “Lord, thank you for calling Andrew to be a missionary in his home area. May he lead many Nkoya to the throne of grace. Help each of us to be missionaries wherever we may live!” (*pseudonym)
