“You have commanded us to keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes!” (Psalm 119:4-5, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, praying with you for those discovering God’s Word.

Ahmet* and his family live in a village on the high plains of Turkey. They are farmers, struggling to make ends meet from one harvest to the next. Ahmet shared with friends about three recent dreams. “The first night you were in my dream, and you gave me a large, old key. When I visited you next, you gave me the whole Bible! Before that, I only had the New Testament. From the second dream, I remember the word ‘lire.’ Does this word mean anything to you?” he asked. In French, “lire” means “read,” so God was showing Ahmet that the Old Testament is the key to understanding many things in the New Testament and that he should read it. Then, Ahmet explained his last dream. “I saw a lot of sheep, but I don’t know what it means. Is there anything in the Bible about sheep?” After reading some passages together, Ahmet exclaimed: “God is giving me the key, and He wants me to read it and feed His sheep!”

After about two months of leading a Bible study for the homeless in inner-city Nagoya, Japan, Matt is encouraged by signs that God is working. The group of approximately 10 men has gone from barely talking to actively participating. The few believers and several others who seem close to making a decision to follow Christ have stepped up rather quickly and are now carrying a good part of the discussion.

* Please pray that God will continue touching lives through the Bible study in Japan and that many will come to a faithful commitment to follow and serve Him.

* Praise God for this newly believing farmer, Ahmet, and pray, as he, his wife, and daughters feed villagers the powerful news of the Great Shepherd.

* Ask God to help you keep His precepts diligently as you invest time in Bible study.
