“Therefore, let it be known to you that this saving work of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen!” (Acts 28:28)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany (central Europe).

EUROPEAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES - Come with me to Werben, a small, quiet village in eastern Germany . . . but wait! What is all that noise? What are these young men doing on horseback, riding at breakneck speed, and why is that poor rooster dangling from a gallows? We are just in time to observe an ancient Sorbian ritual called “rooster plucking.” The rider, who tears off the rooster’s head, will be named the new harvest king. This ceremony is an old fertility rite that is supposed to guarantee a bountiful harvest. Modern Sorbs attend, not so much believing that this will increase their harvest, but for a chance to socialize with fellow Sorbs. Today, 60,000 Sorbs reside in rural areas in the German states of Brandenburg and Saxony, where they have lived for over a millennium. This small Slavic nation without a country is struggling to survive and preserve its traditional ways of life. Their language has been classified as endangered. They fear for their future as a people. Only 1 percent to 1.5 percent of these people have a personal relationship with Christ, and no one is currently reaching them with the Gospel. Petition the Father to send messengers to these people to proclaim the Good News. May their fear of the future be dispelled, as they accept His gift of salvation and the promise of an eternal home in His kingdom.

UIGHURS OF POST-SOVIET CENTRAL ASIA (WEE-ghurs) - Please pray for the completion of the Bible translation. The New Testament has been finished, but the Old Testament is still in the process of being translated. Having the Scriptures in one’s heart language is highly important to the salvation and discipleship of a person. The main translator for the Good Book, Rose*, is also one of the strongest local leaders in the Uighur community. She is bold in her witness and bears much fruit. As a result, she is a target of the evil one. Pray against the spiritual warfare that she and her family face because of her obedience. (*pseudonym)
