“And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.” (Acts 6:7, ESV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, interceding with you for those who study and share the Good News.

A worker among the peoples of the Amazon River Basin writes, “He was only 12 years old when a jaguar attacked. His relatives rescued him, put him in a canoe, and his father took him down the river to a small town. He was then flown to a city, where he received medical treatment for two years. I remember the television news report seven years ago. However, I did not realize that my 19-year-old friend and student, C, was that same little boy! C’s father had plans for him to become a great witch doctor among his people, but God had other plans. C was invited to live at the Christian Training Center. He began participating in our Storying Training sessions each week. He has now accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He says, ‘God gave me another chance to live because He has plans for my life. God saved me twice: He saved me from the jaguar, and He saved me from my sins.’”

One city in the Richlands area of East Asia was humbled and excited to see 11 believers complete one year of training and graduate in August. The next group of believers participating in this intensive training started in September, and 15 people signed up. They will attend classes all day on Saturdays for one year. Plans are also being made for a second group to be conducted over a one- to two-year period.

* Please pray for these East Asian believers who have a desire to deepen and strengthen their relationship with the Lord.

* Pray that C will be able to take God’s message to his Amazon River Basin people, and that they will joyfully receive the Good News.

* Ask God to lead you to increased training for yourself and to those who need to hear the Gospel from you.
