“She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21, HCSB)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2, NKJV). Please pray today for President Anote Tong of Kiribati (islands in the Pacific).

PEOPLE OF NORTH JAPAN - “Kyoko-chan brought the message of God’s care to people still living in temporary housing units in Kamaishi and Otsuchi, placed there after the 2011 tsunami disaster. A team of three Japanese Baptist women came to minister alongside our North Japan Team in October. The women did a wonderful job of using their gifts and talents to encourage the people and show God’s love. Those present enjoyed the flute music, Japanese traditional songs, hymns, and a ventriloquist. The ventriloquist’s doll, Kyoko-chan, was loved by all. She was funny, but also shared about giving your worries to God through prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus. For two and a half years, team members have read the Bible with the Japanese in this area, quoted Scripture, and shared the Good News. We covet your prayers for the Holy Spirit to work in those who have heard and for God’s wisdom to show us how to move forward with those with whom we are working, or to lead us to others who may be more open. Pray that there will be a breakthrough soon and that someone will believe in the one true God who can heal their wounds and give them a hope for the future.”

SWAHILI-SPEAKING ARABS OF EAST AFRICA (swah-HEE-lee) - She held her brand-new copy of the New Testament, wrapped simply in brown paper, close to her chest and asked, “Should I put this someplace special? Where do you keep yours? Do you have a special shelf for it?” This precious young woman is not yet a believer, but she already treats the Word of God with the respect it deserves. Just as Jesus begged of His Father, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth” (John 17:17, HCSB), please join in praying that for the growing number of Swahili-speaking Arab believers. Ask that they will allow their copies of the Word not just to occupy a shelf of honor in their homes, but also a sanctifying presence in their hearts.
