“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in.” (Revelation 3:20a, NASB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking God to knock loudly for those who are kind people but resistant to the gospel.

Definitely over age 60 but probably closer to her 70s, Ahpah* is working on a dissertation for a degree between a Master’s and a Ph.D. She attends an Islamic university in the city then every week she comes to a local Tatar-speaking group and hears the Good News of Jesus Christ. When she first began coming, it was clear that she struggled with accepting the Truth. The conflict she had went deeper than just believing the words she read in Scripture. It meant admitting and believing that everything she had ever been taught about God--first as a child with Muslim parents and then all the way to the present with her studies at the university--was wrong. While it is hard to watch her struggle week after week (she is so sweet and friendly), workers have hope that the One who draws is still working on her.

Wanda* is an English teacher at a high school in a small town in Thailand. She became a single parent when her husband died of cancer. Everyone who knows her comments on what a kind and caring woman she is. Wanda’s nephew was the first believer in her family. He shared with his mother, who eventually accepted Christ as well. Wanda has heard about Jesus from her sister and nephew and even attended church with them, but she is hesitant to make a commitment to accept Jesus as Savior herself.

* Please pray that Wanda, and others like her of the Phu Thai people group, will come to recognize Jesus as Lord and make a decision to follow Him.

* Join those working among the Tatar of Russia and Central Asia in asking the Lord to draw Ahpah to Himself.

* Fervently intercede for those in your circle of influence who have heard the Word of Truth but need to surrender to the sovereignty of God.
