“For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles.” (Luke 2:30-32a, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray for unengaged unreached people groups.

The Pinjara of South Asia, numbering more than 3 million, were once Hindu but have since converted to Islam. They worked for centuries as cotton carders, painstakingly cleaning cotton so that it could be woven into fabric. With the advance of agricultural technology, they have branched out from cotton ginning and into quilt and pillow making. The Pinjara, considered only a step or two above “untouchable,” are not accepted by either the Muslim community or the Hindu community.

Ishmael, an older, educated Nubian (pronounced ew-BEE-in) man responded when asked, “I don’t know of any Nubian who has become a Christian; to be Nubian is to be Muslim.” Although many Nubians do not live physically in Sudan, their Sudanese heritage is of prime importance to them and they remain connected with one another. There are pockets of this people group in Kenya and Uganda.

The Wagoma (pronounced wah-go-mah) people live on the western side of Tanzania, along the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. While various Great Commission Christian (GCC) churches are located in many areas where they live, the Wagoma do not attend worship services. They are an Islamic people group. It will take committed believers conversing one on one, showing the love of Christ through loving and caring concern, to make an impact on them.

* Please pray to the Lord of the harvest to call out believers willing to learn how to witness to Muslim people and live in difficult places, especially those having a heart for the Wagoma people.

* Ask God to shine His light in the Nubian communities of Kenya and Uganda.

* Intercede for a breakthrough to the Pinjara of South Asia so that they might see the light of salvation and accept this precious gift.
