“. . . The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16)

WORLD LEADERS - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Baron Divavesi Waqa of Nauru (Oceania, island in South Pacific, southwest of Marshall Islands).

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA (KAYP town) - Missionary Gail Davis teaches English to non-English speakers using the Gospel of Mark. For the past three years, she has encountered many refugees from northern African countries who have left their countries due to corrupt politics, civil wars, clamoring coups, and uncertain futures. Orphans of wars travel to distant countries, seeking hope and a new life. Families leave all they know, looking for stability and a future. These people, 500,000 of them in South Africa alone, are willing to leave everything they know for potential stability and income. They arrive in South Africa with no job, no home, and no friends. When someone does not speak the local language, trying to work, find a home, and get food is extremely difficult. Gail finds them in their desperation. She is preparing to begin a fourth English class in another area of Cape Town that has a large pocket of refugees. Adam*, a refugee training to be a pastor, and Gail canvassed the neighborhood and distributed 80 flyers about the new class. A church one kilometer from the neighborhood is considering allowing the class to meet in their building during the autumn and winter months. Please pray for each refugee who comes to class to have an open heart. Ask that they will grow linguistically and spiritually, and that their physical needs will be met as they seek jobs and find homes. Finally, pray that they will be granted asylum papers so they can have access to schools, doctors, and social services. (*pseudonym)

SOUTH ASIAN HINDU FESTIVALS - During the third week of March, Hindus throughout the world will celebrate the festival known as Holi, an annual celebration during which participants build bonfires and enjoy throwing colored powder and colored water at each other. Also known as the Festival of Colors, it is one of the most exciting holidays for Indians. However, while it is a very fun festival, it also holds a great deal of religious meaning and commemorates many different events in Hindu mythology. Please pray for Hindus as they celebrate this festival. Ask that in the midst of the fun and excitement of Holi, the Indian people will still feel the emptiness in their souls, and that this will lead them to Christ, the only one who can fill that emptiness. Pray that Christians will be bold to share Truth with their Hindu friends.
