“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, joining you in prayer for those learning about Jesus.

There’s a butcher in China who doesn’t look like what you might imagine. If you saw her on the street, you would never guess her occupation. She can be found behind the counter at the market with her makeup on and hair done and dressed in a flashy outfit, high heels, and a bloodied apron! She likes to talk as she’s smiling and hacking away with a large cleaver at a customer’s order. One day she asked a believer, with motions, about the sign of the cross (a Catholic ritual). “I see it in Western movies sometimes,” she said. This conversation opened a door to share the Gospel, until another customer came up.

“Hey, Manny*, let me tell you about the armor of God!” A South Asian living in Canada, Reed* couldn’t wait to tell his best friend what he had just learned. Manny follows Jesus and is glad that Reed also is growing in his new faith. Reed is a new believer whose Muslim parents had forbidden him to be baptized. He has suffered misunderstanding from his family and even unnecessary mental health treatments because of his faith in Jesus. But Reed continues to hunger for the words of Jesus. The IMB representative who is discipling Manny and Reed covets your intercession for continued wisdom as he mentors them. Also pray for God’s intervention in the lives of Reed’s parents; may they have grace to repent and believe the Good News.

* Please pray that if it is God’s will, Reed will be able to find work and leave his parents’ hindering influence.

* Pray for the salvation of this jovial butcher who lives in China so that she will know the joy of Christ.

* Give thanks for the armor of God that protects us from the wiles of the devil.
