“Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions you were taught, either by our message or by our letter.” (2 Thessalonians 2: 15, HCSB)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, encouraging you to pray for new believers.

Since accepting Christ, Esther* has continued to struggle with her health. She was readmitted to the hospital the end of last year with severe swelling, indicating renal failure. God healed her, and she was able to return home. Still, she suffers with abdominal pains and malnutrition. She appears to have a long journey back to her former health. Spiritually, however, Esther is standing strong. She is attending her Digo church in Kenya and is standing by her decision. Her stance is significant. Rarely will a new believer coming from another religion attend church so readily. She still plans to be baptized soon.

Bob* and Chuck* are two Jahanka brothers about 20 years old who have chosen to follow Christ and were recently baptized. They are steadily growing in their faith but their mother, who is also a believer, is not yet ready to be baptized. There are many financial needs for this absent-father family.

Two grass huts, a Tuareg man, his wife, and several children sat in an open compound in the Sahara Desert. Mohammed* had heard the story of Jesus many times but did not believe. He became ill and went to a hospital, where he once again heard the Truth. When he returned home, he described his time there and said that it was like he had been blind but now he could see. A few weeks later, Mohammed was being taught the “Creation to Christ” story so he could share it with his family and friends. As he was learning it, he was pleading with his children to believe.

* Please pray for believers like Mohammed to have a sense of urgency in sharing the Gospel with their family, friends and neighbors.

* Ask God to encourage Bob, Chuck, and their mother as they fully trust Him with the future.

* Pray that Esther never ceases to testify of her faith in Jesus Christ.
