| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST March 18, 2014 “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9) WORLD LEADERS - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands (northwestern Europe). ARAB PEOPLES OF CENTRAL UNITED KINGDOM - More and more broken-down family units can be seen among Arab peoples who make the Central United Kingdom their home. Most often the men are absent, working long hours or out with their friends, chewing “qat” (a narcotic leaf). Some choose to find love with someone other than their legal wife. Islam allows a man three wives, and some men marry another woman for “love” using the Sharia system to marry, which is not recognized by the British government. Then this legally unmarried woman uses government benefits to afford her own home and the finances needed for the man’s second family. This understandably leaves the first wife, often from an arranged marriage, in utter heartbreak. She has often given this man, on average, more than three children, who are caught up in this storm. She feels humiliated, as culturally the shame is on her for not being able to “keep” her husband, although he most often is either breaking his marital vows or living an unclean life according to his professed faith’s standards. Many of the wives feel deeply resentful. Please pray 1 Peter 3:8-9 for these families. Ask the Holy Spirit to counsel believers with whom they come in contact, teaching them how to be supportive yet still speak truth into these families’ lives. Jesus can heal, but the veil blinding many of these Arab peoples to the truth of Jesus hasn’t yet been removed. Pray that the veil keeping them in darkness will be torn away. EAST ASIAN PEOPLES - Challenges are great as large cities in China are grouped into megalopolis regions for the purpose of strategic outreach. Pray that leaders and workers will have wisdom in planning strategies to penetrate every population segment (Acts 13:44-49).
