| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST March 19, 2014 “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers.” (1 Peter 3:12a) WORLD LEADERS - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Harold Martin of New Caledonia (a territorial collectivity of France in the South Pacific, east of Australia). BAPTIST CONVENTIONS OF THE CENTRAL SAHEL (WEST AFRICA) - In Ghana, a huge, officially English-speaking nation of 25 million people and 79 different language groups, more than 2 million people in nine people groups remain unengaged and unreached with the Gospel. The Director of Missions for the Ghana Baptist Convention stated in January: “As a convention, we are now engaging the Nzema, Konkoma and Sisala peoples. We are making frantic efforts to engage the other people groups and would be happy to get partners to work together with us.” Pray as they strategize, train, and send out missionaries and engaging churches so that all of Ghana may hear the truth of Jesus. Pray for churches from Ghana and around the world to engage the unengaged with them to accomplish the task. EUROPEAN UNENGAGED PEOPLES - Have you ever heard of the Khakas? They are a people group in the Russian Federation with dark skin and eyes and coarse dark hair, and who tend to be short in stature. Laws passed in 1822 for non-Russian peoples demanded taxes and tributes and led to their “Christianization” and “Russification.” When the Soviets came to power in 1923, other changes were inflicted upon them. Once pastoral nomads, hunters and fishermen, they were forced into co-ops and collective farms. As a greater emphasis was placed on industry and technology, they established themselves in towns and found work in industries and trades. Everyday life became dominated by Russian, and much of the Khakas language and culture dissolved into the Russian culture. The Republic of Khakasia, located in Siberia, was formed in 1991, but even here the Khakas are a minority. Religious affiliation is relatively unimportant to them. Lack of spiritual direction has been a major problem in Khakasia. Without help, many may turn back to paganism in an attempt to regain their heritage. Pray that the Khakas will learn of Jesus and accept Him as their Savior. Ask the Father to send them teachers who will instruct them properly from His Word.
