| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST March 17, 2014 "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” (James 5:17-18) WORLD LEADERS - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Sushil Koirala of Nepal (southern Asia, northeast of India). AMERICAN PEOPLES - Mobilizers are multi-taskers. They network, connecting people with opportunities. They teach and share the Gospel. Your mobilizers open doors and build bridges of understanding so that others can get to the mission field. “Why? Why do we work so hard to equip and send others to the field? Because the time is short and people are dying without hearing the Gospel, and there are not enough of us to do the job. Your prayers keep the school for missions on the Amazon going. They open doors for missions-minded businessmen in closed countries. Your prayers bring healing and discernment and protection. This month, please keep the Latin missionaries from South America who are serving in the Middle East in your prayers. Pray not only for their protection, but also for the ‘little things,’ like being able to receive their salary and buy food and medicine. Remember us all before the Father.” FUTA TORO FULANI OF WEST AFRICA (FU-tah TOH-roh fu-LAH-nee) - “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15, NKJV). Last November when a group of visiting believers came to a remote village, a man there received Christ. In January the group returned, and the man shared that he had led nine members of his family to Christ. But this man has also suffered much persecution from family members and the community. He no longer has work as a tailor, because everyone in the community has shunned him. Now he gathers what firewood he can find in the bush to sell to support his large family. The horse he used with a delivery cart was taken away by another family member, but he is thankful that he still has his cart and a small donkey. Despite these hardships, he will not turn back from following Jesus. Praise God that he is quick to say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
