| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST January 14, 2014 "Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers.” (1 Corinthians 3:8-9a) WORLD LEADERS - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya (eastern Africa). DIGO OF KENYA AND TANZANIA (DEE-goh) - Esther* watched her mother endure spiritual and physical battles. While struggling with AIDS, she was also dealing with evil strongholds from her years of going to the witch doctor and trusting in charms. Esther’s mother became a believer in her last days, but was never able to express her faith fully. AIDS took her voice and most of her hearing before she died. Esther bore witness to these events, but it wasn’t until her own health struggles that she trusted in the Lord. After friends and family rejected her, assuming that she was cursed, she saw believers stand by her. The love expressed to her eventually led her to understand the ultimate love of Christ. Even after continuing to endure many health struggles, she has stood firm in her decision and now wants to be baptized. Leaving folk Islam isn’t easy. Community pressure can be intense. Please pray for Esther to stand firm in her new faith and to be a light to her community and neighbors and brother and sister. (*pseudonym) HUNGARIANS OF EASTERN HUNGARY - “The frigid, gray days of January call for a refuge of warmth and friendship. Young people need a place where they can come to be encouraged, to laugh together, and to discuss questions about life and relationships. The Connections Debrecen coffeehouse is such a place! The Spring 2014 semester of this weekly outreach kicks off on Thursday, January 16. Pray with our Eastern Hungary Team that new people will come, and that deep, life-changing conversations will take place, drawing many into relationship with our best friend, Jesus.” For additional prayer requests, click here: Today’s Prayer (If you have difficulty with this link, please go to www.imb.org and click on the “Pray” tab, and then click on the “Today’s Prayer” link in the left-hand column.) |
