Bob*, a Xhosa man of South Africa who has been a Christian for just over a year now, decided to spend a day reading God’s Word. That meant that he was not going to turn on the television or radio, or do anything else that would distract him. He wanted to learn more about prayer, so he began reading Psalm 139. At the end of the day, he came to the conclusion that he had not understood prayer very well. He says that he now understands that prayer is more than just asking God for things and even more than just saying ‘thank you’ to God. It’s about getting to know God and talking to Him, and also listening to Him. Three women, each from a different denomination and of a different nationality, were committed to bringing sisters together to pray on a regular basis to see God move in amazing ways in their region of Senegal and the Gambia. Two more women joined in the effort. Though there are so many differences among them, they are one in the Spirit of God. After two wonderful visits that ended in prayers at each household, one of the women said, “I just want to dance, I’m so excited about what God’s going to do!” * Please pray for this growing number of praying sisters in Christ, asking that God will join them together in complete unity, so that their love for one another will glorify the Lord Jesus and touch their nation. * Pray that other Xhosa believers, indeed all believers, will desire to study God’s Word in order to know Him in a deeper, more intimate way. * Give thanks for the privilege and responsibility of prayer, asking God to give you perseverance as you joining brothers and sisters in Christ in praying for the nations.
