In Colombia, national missionaries Henry* and Dana* have been invited to participate in a governmental program. They will present several different topics about family, youth, and raising children, and are allowed to use biblical principles. A distrust of people (especially outsiders) and a very negative image of evangelicals have served as ongoing barriers to reaching the Pa people group. In the middle of a war for land, the desert people of Northern Africa long to have their language, customs, and culture recognized and valued. Unfortunately, that can cause bitterness and hatred to well up in their hearts against those who do not share their thoughts and opinions. A believer was recently taking her friend to the store when her friend mentioned an upcoming protest. She shared that Jesus commands believers to do the impossible: love their enemies. For the first time, this woman heard that what is impossible with man is possible with God. The vast area of northern Madagascar, which is roughly the size of Virginia, is home to many people groups, such as the Antankarana (pronounced ahn-tahn-CAR-ah-nah), the Northern Sakalava (sah-kah-LAH-vah), and others too unfamiliar for me to pronounce. Most adhere to Islam or Catholicism, but they syncretize their religious beliefs with ancestor worship. When there is a problem in the family such as sickness, infertility or failed crops, they call on their ancestors for help. Believing they have done something to offend their ancestors, they think they must do something else to appease them. * Please pray for the peoples of northern Madagascar that they will release their fear and surrender to Jesus. * Ask the Father to bring reconciliation among the people of the desert, and pray that as forgiveness is received, it will also be extended to others. * Praise God for this opportunity Henry and Dana to teach biblical family values to the Pa people.
