“The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16b, KJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, asking you to pray for the prayer office staff and others attending this month’s School of Prayer for All Nations.

As you know, we have recently launched the School of Prayer with a desire to encourage Southern Baptists in this rich discipline of the Christian faith. We are excited to guide participants through various prayer experiences and to learn from those who travel to Richmond. God has spoken to our hearts, drawing us closer to Him and developing a deeper passion for the nations.

But up to this point, our broader prayer office staff has not had the opportunity to “participate” as a group and simply sit in the presence of the Father. From January 27-31, we will step away from the office and invest ourselves in the School of Prayer, being still to know that He is God.

This experiential school is not designed to teach a new method or program. It is a time of inspiration and equipping, a time with God and others as pray for ourselves and our loved ones, for an awakening among the churches of America, and the spread of the Gospel to the nations. IMB president Tom Elliff has said, “It is unthinkable that we would send thousands of people overseas without covering them with a blast furnace of prayer.” The nations, and those Christians who have committed to reaching them with the Gospel, need our committed, fervent prayer. Thank you for being a people of prayer who consistently educate yourselves and lift up the needs of people groups around the world.

* Please pray for prayer office staff members that we will hear the truths God has in mind for us, in our personal lives as well as our combined office responsibilities.

* Intercede for the entire group attending that we will blend well and respect each others’ spiritual insight.

* Give thanks to our God who gives us the privilege of prayer and answers in life-changing power.

***Allowing us to be focused fully on the Lord, the prayer office is closed for business this week. The next PrayerLine will be distributed on Monday, February 3. Thank you for your understanding.***
