And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:21b-22, NASB) Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, lifting up those who seek the face of Jesus. It cost him his job. It cost him the place where he lived. It cost him everything he owned except the clothes on his back. It cost him his old friends. It cost him broken relationships with his family. But was it worth it? This young Futa Toro Fulani man says that his new faith in Jesus gives him a peace he has never known. For the first time, he believes that he is hearing truth as he listens to recordings of the New Testament in his heart language. Have the struggles and persecution been difficult? Certainly. But praise God that this young man will tell you in a heartbeat that it has been worth it all because Jesus thought he was worth it when He died on the cross and rose again to conquer death. “There are no jobs, but my mother keeps praying anyway. I mean, each and every day she is praying that her granddaughter will find work. I keep telling her it’s a waste of time. Why keep praying day after day when nothing happens? It’s just stupid,” said Mary*. A worker among the Basque people of Western Europe couldn’t believe her ears. She has had many opportunities to share and witness to Mary but had no idea that she felt such hopelessness. When did she feel that God had let her down? What had she prayed for and was left feeling disappointed about and, in a sense, had vowed never to “bother” Him again? * Please pray that the prayers of Mary’s mother will be answered so that Mary will see His hand at work and sense His goodness. * Give thanks for the peace this young man in West Africa now experiences and pray that he will be faithful to share that comfort with others. * Ask in prayer, my friends, believing that HE is able.
