| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST August 12, 2014 “For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints--and you continue to serve them.” (Hebrews 6:10, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain (Middle East, east of Saudi Arabia). PEOPLE OF RICHLANDS, EAST ASIA - “It’s baptism season! Most local churches do not have indoor baptism pools, so they usually have a baptismal service once a year in the summer when the weather is warm enough to have an outdoor service. Before receiving baptism, most churches require people to take a class to make sure that they understand what they are doing. Thank the Father for the fruit that our local fellowships have seen in the past year, and ask Him to grant even more fruit in the coming year! Workers recently shared the Good News with two students, and they became our sisters. Praise the Lord! A worker taught them about being baptized, and they were very excited by the prospect of participating in a baptismal service before they went home for the summer. However, when they shared that great news with their families, they were forbidden to take part in the service and in this new way of life. Please lift up these two young women who desire to continue learning more about Jesus. They want to understand more about being a follower of Jesus Christ, but also do not want to dishonor their parents and grandparents, so they need our prayers.” SEREER OF SENEGAL AND THE GAMBIA (suh-RARE) - Church-planting is a difficult endeavor in West Africa; even making disciples can seem like an overwhelming task when working among a large people group that is less than 1 percent evangelized. For years, the IMB team working among the Sereer has had a dream of partnering with one of the few existing Baptist churches in the country of Senegal in evangelism and church planting. Praise God that this dream is becoming a reality, as a pastor in one of the churches in the capital city is advocating sending a delegation on a “discovery trip” to the area where the Sereer live! He said that there are young men who have expressed a desire to serve and who have been commended by the church; they can be their church’s “feet on the ground” as they join with the IMB team. Please pray for this church that has a desire to extend its reach and be on mission with God, asking that He will prove Himself faithful in providing the resources needed to embark on this journey. Pray for the young people who have expressed the desire to serve, asking that they will seek the Lord and follow Him with all of their hearts. Pray for the IMB team, asking that the Lord will give direction and discernment in developing this partnership. Above all, pray that God will be glorified as people come to Him and become disciples, and a new church is formed among the Sereer people.
