Nearly 70 years ago in a small rural village in Thailand, New* heard about a man named Jesus from someone passing through her village. As she grew up, she did not have a chance to learn more. She got married and had six children. After her husband died, she remarried and gained six more children. Now she is known as Grandma New. Last year, a volunteer medical team came to her village. Once again she heard about Jesus, and she wanted to learn more. Grandma New and her husband gladly agreed to have someone come to their house each week to share Bible stories. Several girls from the village are also coming to hear who Jesus is. Many people have prayed for a family in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The father and college-age son are already Christians. However, the mother for a long time has faced opposition from her parents, even though two of her adult siblings have already established Christian families. Recently, following the partnership with a Southeast Asian mission team (for which you prayed), this mother and others accepted Christ. Henry*, a recent follower of Jesus, is experiencing persecution from family members yet his faith is not faltering. He is a part of the Zerma people of Niger. Lilly*, one of the Zaw people of China, is the first in her village to proclaim faith in the one true God. Neither her husband nor her husband’s parents have placed their faith in Jesus. * Please pray that Henry and Lilly will grow in their faith and not let traditions or family members discourage them in this new walk of faith. * Thank the Lord for these Hokkien families in Taiwan as they grow in their walk with Christ. * Pray that Grandma New and those who come to hear the Bible stories will grow in faith and become witnesses of the Gospel to those living around them. *Names changed |
