And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” (James 5:17-18, NKJV) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for President Thomas Yayi Boni of Benin (western Africa, between Togo and Nigeria). AFGHANISTAN - Afghanistan, a country torn by war and tribal warfare, desperately needs God’s mercy. Join believers all over the world in praying for Afghanistan during a focused time of prayer on September 1-11, 2014. You may ask, “How can I learn more and get involved?” 1) Coordinate a week of prayer in your church or small group, using the free prayer guide, “Afghanistan: Prayers for the Healing of a Country.” 2) Follow Central Asian Peoples Facebook and Twitter for daily prayer requests. 3) Join the Facebook event page and post your feedback, prayers and church-event ideas. 4) Watch for CompassionNet prayer requests about Afghanistan, and take a moment each day to stop and pray for the people of that country. AMHARA OF ETHIOPIA (ahm-HAR-ah) - An Ethiopian friend went to visit his family and relatives out in the countryside. He took with him five or more Bibles and a solar-powered audio player containing the Gospel, Bible stories, and songs. The audio player was for a blind couple. Both husband and wife are blind, but they will be able to work the audio player easily and listen to God’s Word. Please pray for all those who will read the Bibles, and pray for the couple. Ask the Holy Spirit to move mightily in their lives and give them a great hunger for both God’s Word and God Himself. Pray that the Holy Spirit will enlighten their dark minds with Truth, and that many people will come to faith in Jesus. Pray that they will share their Bibles and what they learn with others. CHINESE OF WESTERN NORTH AMERICA - God has provided some office space to be used for training by a network of Chinese churches in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. Ask the Father to open up many opportunities to train believers and reach out to seekers in this new, accessible location. Also continue to pray for the new church start in Calgary, Alberta. Ask that a suitable meeting place will be found and that many people will be saved, nurtured, and sent out through the ministry of this new church.
