The Kasanga (pronounced kah-SAN-gah) are said to be the first people group in one northwestern area of Guinea-Bissau, and they were traditionally ruled by a king. One day the people tricked and killed their king, and because of that, they believe they have been cursed to this day. When they run out of water or have problems with their crops, they attribute it to the curse of the king. The Kasanga are a people known to have very powerful spirits. In the past, when confronted with the Bible and Jesus, they would say that they did not need the Bible or Jesus because their spirits were powerful enough. The Digao are located in central Yunnan province, China, and number approximately 29,000. There are no known Digao believers, even though there was a witness living among them a century ago. They are an animistic people, and still have ceremonies annually to honor their ancestors. They continue to live in fear of evil spirits and consult shamans about spiritual matters. From the Arabian Desert of the Arabian Peninsula to the Sahara Desert of northern Africa, the Chaamba Bedouin traversed over time to their new home. They live in portable tents that provide a place for the mothers and children to hang out and for the men to entertain in the harsh desert. Bedouin farmers are more localized, as they have taken up farming in the fertile soil on the outskirts of the desert. There are only a few Chaamba believers who have left Islam. In Islamic law, that is called apostasy, and it is punishable by death. * Please pray that believers will translate Scriptures into Bedouin Arabic, their unique dialect, so they can have access in a language they can understand. * Pray that the Digao people of China will be freed from the bondage of evil spirits and ancestor worship. * Intercede for the Kasanga of Guinea-Bissau to discover the blessing of eternal life from the King of all kings, the King of the universe. |
