| Prayer requests on the website are updated every Monday-Friday at 9:30 a.m., EST August 19, 2014 “. . . The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” (James 5:16, HCSB) WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Dean Barrow of Belize (Central America, between Mexico and Guatemala). AMAZON PEOPLES OF THE AMAZON RIVER BASIN (AM-uh-zahn) - The one who leads the Amazon Peoples Team is the only IMB worker in her area. For years a national Christian has accompanied her in her work, while also helping with household and administrative details. This national co-worker has had to travel to her hometown for medical reasons, and that has left a big hole in the life and ministry of the IMB worker. Please pray for God’s healing for the national co-worker as He sees fit. Ask that the IMB worker will see and appropriate the provisions that God is making for her in the absence of this helper. Pray that the Word will continue to be shared among the different peoples of the Amazon River Basin. NGONDE OF NORTHERN MALAWI (N-gone-day) - Maiya’s* husband used to be known as a womanizer. At one point, he even wanted to get a second wife, but that was before God got a hold of his life. Now he is a pastor among the Ngonde people in northern Malawi. Maiya never gave up on her husband, and now encourages others to live godly lives as an example to their husbands who may not be saved. The Ngonde men are famous for having many wives. Pray for Maiya and her husband, Richard*, to be a strong example of what God desires for a family to look like. Pray that they will be humble and alert to the schemes that the devil sends their way. Ask God to help them remain strong and steadfast in their faith as they seek to witness and disciple the Ngonde people in their area.
