“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” (Isaiah 59:1, NKJV)

WORLD LEADER - “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Please pray today for Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer of Antigua and Barbuda (eastern Caribbean Sea).

NORTH AFRICANS OF BELGIUM - “Assassins,” “killers,” “lazy” . . . these are just a few descriptions that you will often hear when a Belgian is describing a person of North African descent. In light of the killings that took place in May in this country at a Jewish Museum by a man of North African descent, these impressions have not improved. A spirit of fear, unrest, mistrust and hatred continues to grow in the local community. Pray for the Belgian community and for the families of the deceased as they heal from the shock of that horrible event. Pray for the local evangelical churches, asking that they will feel a sense of urgency to reach out to the North African community around them. Pray for the salvation of the man who was apprehended for the killings. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).

SOUTH TOKYO, JAPAN (TOH-kyoh) - In Tokyo, you can see all kinds of families: They may be retired couples, newlywed couples, couples with young children where the wife stays at home, or couples where both spouses are working either fulltime or part time. Some of these families may have junior high, high school or college-age children who are gone so much of the day that they hardly see each other. On the trains and buses, you can see the faces of many of these family members who are busy going to places 30 minutes to an hour away from their homes. How do you share God’s love with these people? Recently one missionary couple found that the words of 1 Corinthians 13 spoke to all of these kinds of families. One retired couple, after sharing about their son’s recent wedding ceremony and hearing these famous words at a wedding chapel, asked, “How can the average Japanese hear these words? Where can you go to be taught about this kind of love? If more people used these words as their model, we would have a much better world!” A young mother, hearing these words about God’s kind of love, said “This is so difficult, but I know it’s important to try.” A single woman who works with senior adults but volunteers at a children’s community center said, “I hope I can find this kind of love someday.” Pray that more Japanese will be able to hear about this kind of love and learn that “God is love.”
