“Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29, NKJV)

Hi, this is Eleanor Witcher of IMB’s prayer office, lifting up the persecuted.

There have been at least three incidents recently where believers in Richlands, East Asia, have been interrupted by authorities and they have been told to discontinue meeting together.

Harry* was an Iraqi Shia Muslim who recently became a follower of Jesus. Because of this decision, his wife has left their home.

Lisa*, a gentle, soft-spoken ministry partner, and Leah*, a high school student, went out one evening with the intention of finding someone with whom to share the Good News. They met up with Grandma, who was minding her shop. By the end of their conversation, Grandma was asking where she could be baptized! Later, this woman’s children returned to their Indonesian home to find that she was a “new creation” and had been baptized. The grown children gathered a crowd and asked the police to arrest Lisa and Leah for “forcing” Grandma into a new religion. The police asked Lisa to share what they had said to her. As a result, the angry mob and the police officers involved all heard the Good News. When the police asked if these young women had forced the woman to say or do anything against her will, Grandma testified that she had willingly subjected herself to the one true God and His Son, the Savior of the world. To be released, Lisa and Leah had to sign an agreement that they would not have any further contact with Grandma. Church members in that area were emboldened by this incident.

* Please pray that the one true God will speak to Grandma through other believers and through His Word.

* Intercede for Lisa, Leah and other believers who were strengthened in their resolve to reach out to their neighbors and offer them an escape from eternal torment.

* Ask God to comfort and encourage brothers and sisters in Christ as they face persecution from officials and family members.
