The Kuku of South Sudan are an unreached people group of approximately 218,000 who follow the teachings of their ancestors to find grace. Kim*, a young Kuku woman, has spent most of her life in refugee camps in the north and has a different story. While Kim was a young girl, she came to know Jesus as her Savior. Next her mother came to faith, then her father, and eventually her siblings. They became part of a Baptist church in the camp. Because of the violent conflict in South Sudan, many of the Kuku people group are in refugee camps. The Tsez are a small people group who live in Dagestan, Russia. They are a simple people who are beekeepers and make honey. They raise cows and have small family businesses. The Tsez have an animistic worldview and celebrate nature holidays, believing in genies, evil spirits, witchcraft, and demons. The Laba people of Guizhou province, China, number approximately 250, 000, and most have not heard the Good News. There are reports of 500 believers among the Laba, but the Gospel has never truly spread. The Laba people practice mostly ancestor worship and animism. They have been known to sacrifice a cow every three years for their ancestors, believing that the meat will nourish their souls in the afterlife. As you pray, ask for the existing Laba believers to be bold to share their faith among their circles of influence and families. * Please pray that the surrounding Miao believers will reach out to the Laba people and tell the Laba the truth about the salvation of Jesus Christ. * Intercede for the Tsez people that as they leave their ancestral mountains and move to more easily accessible places, they will be exposed to the Gospel. * Pray that the Kuku will no longer believe that grace comes through their ancestors, but discover that the grace of God is freely given to all who will receive.
